This past weekend, we showed you images of the BlackBerry Passport Silver Edition running Android 5.1. According to the speculation that accompanied the photos, BlackBerry is planning to release an Android powered Passport in the second quarter of 2016, provided that an Android flavored BlackBerry Venice slider does well.

Today, a video has surfaced showing an original BlackBerry Passport, and the same Silver Edition that appeared in the photographs the other day, both running Android. The video shows the settings of the Silver Edition version, and also shows the handset going through Quick Settings and the Google Play Store. We are also shown an app being installed from the store. The browser is displayed as the mobile version of Facebook is opened, and some features like scrolling seem to check out A-OK.

While we told you about the possibility that an Android powered BlackBerry Passport is in the works for next year, others say that the video and other images are the result of BlackBerry testing out the OS in expectations for the use of Android on the BlackBerry Vernice slider. There are many Android users who are hoping that the first speculation is correct, as they would love nothing more than getting their hands on an Android powered Passport. We might not know what BlackBerry's intentions are for Android until October or November.

Meanwhile, you can check out Android running on the Passport by clicking on the video below.
