It seems that the Sony Xperia M4 Aqua will skip the Android 5.0 Lollipop update and will be upgraded directly to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, this year. At the same time, other Xperia devices that are eligible for the update are also expected to start receiving the firmware in the coming weeks. Sony Xperia M4 Aqua Confirmed For Android 6.0 Marshmallow UPDATE We remind you that back in June 2015 Sony has officially announced the devices that are eligible to receive the Android 5.1 Lollipop update. Back then, many Sony Xperia M4 Aqua owners were quite disappointed, as the device was missing from that list. A few months later, in October 2015, Sony has hinted that there are chances that its M4 Aqua will be updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Well, it seems that, now, it’s official, and this device will skip the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and get directly the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. In concordance with Mobi Picker, Sony has already sent the Marshmallow Concept software to BETA testers in order to test the Android 6.0 Marshmallow on the Xperia Z3 Compact and Xperia Z3. It seems that Sony is willing to leave the Android UI untouched, as there are more and more users who prefer it that way. The Android 6.0 Marshmallow Concept is apparently working without any issues and it also saves the battery life thanks to the new “Doze” feature that the Marshmallow OS comes with. It seems that the Android 6.0 Marshmallow Concept for the Xperia devices also supports theme packs, transition effects and a grid-style menu along with Sony-specific album, AR effects, music app and camera app. According to reports, the eligible Sony handsets for the Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update are: Xperia M4, Xperia M4 Aqua, Xperia C5 Ultra, Xperia C4, Xperia Z5 Compact, Xperia Z5 Premium, Xperia Z5, Xperia Z4 Tablet, Xperia Z3+, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia 2 Tablet and Xperia M5.
