The action bar on the top of the Google Play Store is being replaced with a regular Google Search bar with the words Google Play inside. Google interface engineer Kirill Grouchnikov leaked the news on his Google+ page. The update is coming out server-side so users won't have to lift a finger in order to see the new feature. It also means that not everyone will have their Google Play Store app updated at the same time. Just keep your eyes peeled for the new Search bar.

Similar to the Now page on the Google Now launcher, the search bar disappears when you scroll down and reappears when you scroll up. The hamburger icon remains on top. Clicking on it allows you access to the navigation menu. Tapping on the actual search bar will show you a list of your past searches.

The update makes Search stand out much more on the Google Play Store. You can get an idea of how it will look from the two GIFs we've embedded below.
